How Do You Prepare Hundreds of Pounds of X-Ray Film for Pickup?

For a bulk X-ray film pickup, your staff does not need to box hundreds of pounds of files. California Film Recycling handles the boxing, removal, and sorting. The most useful preparation is to approve the records, identify the storage areas, and tell us how to reach them.

Confirm exactly what is leaving

Have your records contact approve the collection before pickup. Mark the rooms, shelves, or cabinets that can be cleared and point out files that must remain.

If several departments share storage, check that they agree on the approved areas. A clear boundary prevents the pickup team from guessing which records belong in the job.

Describe the quantity without weighing it all

A count of cabinets, shelves, rooms, or existing boxes gives us a starting point. Mention whether the files are tightly packed, loose, or spread across several locations.

You do not need to lift every box onto a scale before calling. Tell us the approximate age and type of film, along with any available estimate of the amount.

Leave the files where they are stored

Our team boxes the approved collection onsite. Keep film in its envelopes and leave paper records and CDs with the files.

We remove the collection and separate the materials. Your staff can avoid the extra work of unpacking files, sorting the contents, and carrying the same records around the building twice.

Tell us about access

Mention stairs, elevators, narrow doorways, loading areas, parking, and locked rooms. If there are building check-in rules or limits on pickup hours, share those early.

For a move or lease deadline, let us know the date. Large removals are easier to plan when the building arrangements are settled before the team arrives.

Keep one person available on pickup day

Choose someone who can show the team the approved areas and answer questions. That person should know which nearby files must stay.

Keep the collection secure until the team reaches it. There is no need to leave confidential records unattended outside or in a public hallway to make them easier to collect.

Finish with the weight and destruction records

We pay by the pound for accepted film, with pricing based on film type, age, and amount. Discuss the quote and how payment will be recorded when arranging the pickup.

Our service includes secure destruction of patient information and a Certificate of Destruction. Save the certificate, collection details, and film payment records with your approval for the cleanout.
